TUTORING
“Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.” John C. Crosby
Why “Mentor” instead of “Tutor”?
A Mentor is someone who guides, helps, and gives insight from their own experiences. A Mentor is about relationship, not just information. That’s why we call ourselves Mentors instead of just tutors.
We’re an expert in the subject so you don’t have to be.
Need phonics help? We’ve got you.
Calculus AB homework help? We’re ready.
Dyslexia support? We’ve got that too.
Our Beyond Mentors are experts in a variety of subjects, and we make sure to pair you based on the subjects you need.
Convenience for your family.
We know you’re busy, so we make tutoring sessions as accessible as possible. We pair you with a Mentor based on the time that best works for your child. Then, we can meet in person or connect virtually. We make things as easy as possible so you’ve got one less thing to worry about.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a difference between a tutor and a Beyond Mentor?
- A tutor is someone who is focused solely on helping a student improve academically, typically helping a student with homework, study for a test, or edit a paper.
-
A Mentor is someone who recognizes that school is not just about academics. It’s about learning to manage stress, how to schedule a week, how to be accountable to deadlines, and how to advocate for your needs. A Beyond Mentor helps a student achieve academic success while providing them with the life skills to be successful inside and outside the classroom, the skills that are important one day when they go off to college and become an adult.
What materials does the Beyond Mentor use?
- A Beyond Mentor will show up with a pen, pencil, and paper they can use to help the student. If the parent or student would like them to work on anything specifically, it’s best to text or email the Mentor ahead so they can be prepared. Beyond Education does not use any specific curriculums, which allows us to tailor sessions to you.
- Also, if the Mentor or parents thinks it necessary to purchase any specific materials for sessions, the Mentor will ask the parent.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions are one hour long. If you would like a session to go longer or stop sooner, please let us know beforehand so that we can plan accordingly.
What happens if I have to cancel a session?
- If you need to cancel more than a day before the session is planned, not a problem! You can reschedule directly with your Beyond Mentor.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before a session is planned, Beyond Education reserves the right to charge you the full amount of the session.
Where do sessions happen?
- We know convenience is KEY, so we offer in-home sessions.
- If the the house is not the best space to focus, we recommend arranging a public place like a library, school campus (if pre-arranged with the school), or nearby coffee shop to meet.
