About Me

Hello! My name is Sarah Clausen, and I am a Homeschool Instructor, Mentor, and Educational Consultant for Beyond Education. I am originally from south Louisiana but made my way to Trinity University where I got both my undergraduate degree in 2014 and Master of Arts in Teaching in 2015. I am currently certified to teach grades EC3 through sixth grade and have had experience teaching in both the first and second grade classrooms in the San Antonio area.

One of my favorite things about working with students 1-on-1 is that I get to focus completely on them, allowing myself as an educator to get creative and cater to the “whole” child. Growing up, I always struggled with math and science, but if I connected and applied it to a topic I felt confident in and enjoyed, my perspective might have shifted. Working with emergent readers and writers is what I have the most experience with. However, I am equally excited about working with students of all ages. It took me many years to find out how I learn best and embraced both my strengths and struggles. When working with students, I hope to foster this open dialogue and transparency so that they feel empowered to advocate for themselves both in and out of the classroom.
